about

To open the first package Section has enlisted Paris-based Romanian Seb Dhajje, one of progressive house's most respected producers, to create an ultra-hypnotic groover that builds exquisitely over eight and a half minutes of ultra-classy production. Textures overlap elegantly on top of a steadily-pulsating bassline, everything dripping with delays which wash over you like a sea breeze wafting in over an Ibiza bay. Idyllic, inspired and aetherial.

Section's “Man in Japan” Aurtas turns out an solid progressive house chugger for track 2 which has already been picked up and used on a product video for Pioneer Pro DJ's new Serato controller. From the moment the bass drops one minute in, you know you're in for a euphoric dancefloor experience as Aurtas builds, drops then reconstructs the groove before hitting you with an accomplished climax, complementing the original vocal with Deadmau5-esque synths and pulsing pads.

Competition winners Radioactive Sandwich from Philadelphia / New York turned in 3 mixes for the competition which were all so good, we couldn't resist throwing their house remix into the pot too. Driven by an edgy trance bassline and the original vocal, the mix chugs cheekily towards an arpeggio-laden breakdown before dropping back to crisp beats, side-chained analog strings and that bassline to carry you through to the end.

The final mix on Vol 1 comes from Tripswitch himself, who gives the original a unique and quirky makeover. Chopping and mangling the original elements and interspersing techy and retro synths and effects, Nick creates a steady but heady build-up to a big drop that gives the original guitar centre stage, before dropping to a chunky rolling bassline and a resampled Rhodes line which twists and detunes itself around the rhythm section.
