about

Vol 2 opens with Radioactive Sandwich's competition-winning downtempo workout. Starting out simplistically with Natasha's heavenly vocal, before bringing in bass and flamenco-inspired psychedelic beats, the track develops into a story of its own as it grows and gains momentum. The extended breakdown is where this piece really takes flight as a gorgeous delayed synth line introduces new melodies and hints at the euphoric harmonies to come.

Arizona-based downtempo and progressive veteran Joey Fehrenbach provides a lush but understated rework for track 2, staying faithful to the original but creating an elegant and smooth arrangement which puts the listener in a place of comfort and familiarity. Simple but beautiful guitar and synth lines counterpoint the laid-back rhythm section to give the track a commercial but dignified groove.

Section's newest signing Audioglider (Roberto Sodano) gives a taster of his relaxed, retro-inspired sound with the 3rd mix on the package. 808 beats and a burbling bassline are joined by original pads and a choppy lead, then the track almost drops to a complete standstill before coming back even more groovily, making unique use of original sounds other remixers left behind. An original EP and album from Audioglider have been delivered to the Section offices and will be released in early 2012.

Closing the package, Tektribe (a partnership between Ultimae label DJ Nova and ethno-percussionist Antonio Testa) come with a mix that stands alone for it's depth of texture and organic flair. 10 minutes on the dot, this delicious journey transports you straight to the rainforest floor courtesy of Antonio Testa's unique skills and knowledge in weaving many layers of ethnic percussion. Knitted together by Nova in an accomplished ambient production combining guitars, pads and bass, this mix perhaps comes closest to the setting and sentiments that inspired Tripswitch's original. A fitting finale to these world-class packages.
